There are a lot of terms out there to describe different types of jewelry. To better help you find what you are looking for, it's good to know a little about what these terms mean.
What ‘Estate Jewelry’ means to us: Estate simply means that it is previously owned, and usually of high quality. The quality and value are usually at a higher level than what is offered at most jewelry stores. The age can vary between new to antique.
A lot of people think ‘Estate’ means the same as ‘Antique’; however, the terms do not necessarily equate, nor are they mutually exclusive.
As a store, the majority of our items are newer, but due to the popularity of certain styles, we are proud to offer a range of antique and vintage pieces as they come to us. The demand for certain styles is high—particularly in the Portland area—and we are able to offer them for a better value than our competition (both for our consignors and for the customers looking to buy. And for those who are looking for more modern cuts with the beauty of an older aesthetic, there are also a number of newer ‘vintage inspired’ pieces.
‘Antique’ will typically refer to items that are 100 years old or older. ‘Retro’ is from the 40’s and 50’s. ‘Vintage’ is older than ‘Retro’.
If you are looking to buy or sell Estate, Vintage or Antique pieces, we look for and offer items that are in excellent condition, of high quality and fine workmanship. We offer a wide range of styles to compliment many tastes, but current market appeal is very important.
